Duties and Responsibilities
The Director, Business Operations, manages a broad portfolio by leading and supporting Managers of Food Services, Ancillary Services, and the Healthy Living Centre (HLC) to ensure efficient, student-focused operations and high service standards. Responsibilities include overseeing HLC programming, facility management, and community engagement, managing Bookstore relations, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role involves developing strategies for generating new revenue streams, securing sponsorships, and building external partnerships aligned with institutional goals. The Director also collaboratively contributes to long-term planning for residence, dining, and recreation spaces, while reporting performance metrics to the VP (Administration & Finance). Additional duties include fostering staff development, performance management, succession planning, and maintaining positive labor relations and alignment with the various collective agreements, budget management, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to enhance integrated service delivery and student experience. The Director participates on institutional committees, drives continuous improvement using data and feedback to promote innovation and service excellence, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Management, or similar discipline, along with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant supervisory experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience working within a post-secondary environment is an asset.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and support staff effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The role requires a high level of organizational ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Candidates should also be adaptable, proactive, and capable of managing a multiple variety of portfolios in a dynamic environment.
Salary: Managers & Professional Officers MPO -VII, $125,779.00
