Position Overview:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, Continuing Studies, our Distance Education Instructors will be responsible for the delivery and facilitation of courses in the Green Building & Retrofitting Certificate of Completion with Micro credential Badging. This fully online program supports adult learners across Canada, providing training to experienced tradespeople and internationally trained professionals transitioning on sustainable building practices. Instructors will be assigned to either East (BC, Alberta, NWT) divisions or West (MB, SK, ON, NB) divisions.
 

Subject Matter Experts needed for the following courses: 
  • Sustainable Building Basics
  • Energy Analysis & Verification
  • Efficient Energy Systems
  • Envelope & Retrofit Systems
  • Safety & Compliance Basics
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver one live, weekly video conferencing session per cohort via Zoom (Q&A format). 
  • Monitor and respond to student inquiries through Moodle and email. 
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on quizzes, assignments, and scenario-based assessments. 
  • Maintain course-related records including evaluations and grades. 
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and instructional team as needed. 
  • Engage students in a culturally inclusive and supportive virtual classroom environment. 
Qualifications:
Required: 
  • Red Seal Journeyperson Certification in Carpentry or related trade
  • Experience using Moodle, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada. 
  • Access to a personal computer with camera, microphone, and high-speed internet. 
  
Preferred:  
  • Experience teaching or facilitating learning for adult learners. 
  • Familiarity with green building, retrofitting practices, and energy efficiency systems. 
  • Experience working with new Canadians and diverse populations.
