Position Overview:
Reporting to the CIO and Manager, Information & Technology Services, the incumbent is responsible for researching, planning, installing, configuring, and maintaining computer network hardware and software. This position works with other Systems Administrators and IT Technicians to upgrade and maintain the network/servers, solve problems and complete assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining College network and servers, including planning and implementing upgrades to existing network and software systems.
- Troubleshooting network and server problems.
- Maintain a high knowledge level by researching technology trends and keeping up to date with emerging technologies.
- Respond to user’s requests for expertise and recommendations related to technical projects and application implementation by clearly identifying business requirements, referring users to senior division staff as appropriate to help drive the direction of IT systems in use at the College
- Enhancing the cyber security posture of the college with regards to Identity, Endpoint, Server, Cloud, and Network
Qualifications:
- Individual must have a degree or diploma in Computer Technology or related fields supplemented with three or more years of related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of computer hardware and software.
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking, including switching, routing, firewalls, M365 tenants, voice (VOIP), and on-premises server and storage infrastructure.
- Requires practical skills and experience
of implementing, installing, and configuring computer hardware and software in medium to large networks.
- Ability to work in an environment that includes broad participation with all Divisions for the upgrading and maintenance of College systems.
- Requires good organizational, analytical and research skills.
- Broad understanding of the network and servers at the user level and can communicate their knowledge to users.
