Reporting to the Director, Centre for Adult Learning, the Instructor is responsible for teaching high school-level courses such as Chemistry 40S, Physics 40S, and Mathematics 40S through a variety of delivery methods, including in-person, online, Satellite/Hub, and HyFlex formats. Utilizing the College’s learning management system, Moodle, the Instructor, will design and deliver engaging learning experiences, support student success, and foster an inclusive learning environment that reflects Assiniboine College’s commitment to innovation, accessibility, and lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high school-level courses, including Chemistry 40S, Physics 40S, and Mathematics 40S, through in-person, online, Satellite/Hub, and HyFlex formats.
- Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports adult learner success through effective classroom management, academic advising, and student support.
- Assess and evaluate student learning using a variety of methods, providing timely feedback and maintaining academic standards.
- Adapt and enhance course materials, learning activities, and assessment tools to meet curriculum outcomes and diverse learner needs.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain course content and learning resources using learning management systems such as Moodle.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement, and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support program goals and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Centre for Adult Learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education or a related degree with a teachable major in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- A valid Manitoba Professional Teaching Certificate
- Experience teaching in a high school setting, formal adult education environment, or a combination of both.
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to creating engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning experiences.
- Experience teaching high school or adult learners is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word.
- Experience using learning management systems, such as Moodle, and delivering instruction in online or blended learning environments is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional best practices, assessment and evaluation methods, student advising, and learner support strategies.
- Understanding of Indigenization, decolonization, and inclusive approaches to curriculum and teaching is considered an asset.
