Overview

Whether you work in a small, medium or large size charity, keeping your fundraising program robust and thriving can be a challenge. If you are looking for inspiration, motivation and creative ideas; if you are tired of dragging your senior volunteers to committee meetings; or if you are hoping to give your staff something new and exciting to work on -- then you will not want to miss this day of learning, thinking and transforming, alongside networking with colleagues and peers in the philanthropic field. Please join us on Thursday, Jan 26, 2017 for a full day with Kimberley MacKenzie!

Registration Subsidies Available
Full-day session rate discounts of $100/person are available for the first five individuals to register from organizations with annual fundraising budgets of $1M or less. Open to members and non-AFP members. (Limit of one discounted registration per organization.)

 
The first session will focus on senior level strategic ideas. In addition to senior fundraisers, this opening session is especially well-suited for board chairs or executive directors who want to advance a culture of philanthropy in the organization. (Special pricing for attending this session only is available.)
 
The following two sessions will look at more tactical strategies, building on the ideas from the opening session and touching on every revenue stream, with a special focus on building a legacy program when you don’t have dedicated staff or a significant budget.
 
Each participant will leave with a practical workplan that they have created and can then apply in their organizations. We can’t wait to see you there!

Leading the Charge: Creating Transformative Results
for You and Your Organization

Relationship fundraising is more than a buzz word. Building true relationships with donors often requires systemic change throughout the organization. This session will provide a forum for senior level staff to discuss the challenges of managing change, working with a board and advancing a culture of philanthropy. It is based on current research, experience and real life examples. Approaching leadership with an open heart and putting donors at the forefront of the decisions you make will result in more revenue to deliver your organization’s mission.
 
Participants will:

  1. Learn about up to date research on the practicalities and implementation of relationship fundraising
  2. Learn how to work with your board, volunteer leadership and staff to advance a culture of philanthropy to drive revenue
  3. Learn what it takes to truly advance a culture of philanthropy and be able to communicate why that is important

Session Two
Leading
the Charge: How Authentic Fundraising Can
Transform Your Fundraising Programs

10:30 am – 12:30 pm
 
Whether it is acquisition, direct mail, major gifts or bequests, your donors are sophisticated, passionate about your cause, and sincerely want to make a difference. You don’t have to “sell” them anything. Gone are the days of needing to master the art of persuading donors to give to your charity. Donors are looking for sincere, real, authentic people to help them have social impact. This session will provide practically useful tips and techniques for taking an authentic, honest, approach to every revenue stream in your organization. 
 
Participants will:

  1. Learn how authenticity manifests itself in the development office and why it is important.
  2. Look at examples of authentic fundraising in acquisition, direct mail and major gifts
  3. Implement key practices to live an authentic life
  4. Be able to articulate the passion that drives daily interactions with colleagues, staff and donors  

LUNCH BREAK – LUNCH IS PROVIDED


Session Three
1:30 – 3:00 pm

A continuation of session two, this session will focus on planned giving and will culminate in the development of a workplan that participants can take home and start to apply immediately in order to get the transformative change they need.

Participants will:
  1. Review a real case study of how a bequest fundraising program was transformed.
  2. Review a personal workplan that you have developed during the course of the day to action your learning.
