Manitoba Success Story: Amanda Buhse and Tom Jansen from Coal and Canary
Best friends and business partners, Tom Jansen and Amanda Buhse started Coal and Canary in 2014 over a glass of wine and an idea. These young entrepreneurs now sell their handmade candles in their own online, at markets, online, and at over 200 retail stores in 3 different countries. The pair found a gap in the market for high-quality, handmade candles and jumped on it. Each candle is hand poured in small batches and made with the highest quality of supplies. They market their product towards the hip and young professionals with fun, sassy names and bright labels. What started as a side project is now a fulltime job for the two. Having had their candles featured in Oscar and Grammy swag bags and with their hard work and dedication, they have experienced a quick rise to success. Hear from Amanda about their journey and love for candles.
